Mike Bystol | Owner
Mike began his strength and conditioning career early in high school while training for football. His dedication to the weight room earned him many prestigious honors, such as captain of his high school and college football team, All-American Honors, and a Division 1 college scholarship to East Carolina University.
Strength and Conditioning coach Mike Bystol has been building an impressive resume of success over his 25 years of experience. Originally hand-picked by Charles Poliquin and “recognized as one of the top strength coaches in the world” for his work ethic and coaching talent, early in his career he was able to travel and coach some of the top athletes in the world while learning from the best.
In 2005, Mike opened the Poliquin Performance Center in Northfield, IL to honor the legacy of his mentor and as a way to commit to creating the future of the health and fitness industry.
Poliquin Performance Center proved to be a crucial stepping-stone in allowing Bystol to become a top strength coach in the United States, with a state-of-the-art 12,000 sq. ft. facility that offered premiere sports performance and adult personal training. PPC quickly earned the reputation as the #1 place to train for athletes and adults looking for RESULTS!
In 2013, Mike moved Poliquin Performance Center from Northfield to Highland Park and created Bystol Performance Center. BPC is one of the largest training facilities of its kind. A massive 25,000 sq. ft. private training facility packed with the latest state-of-the-art equipment, 50 yards of pro turf, center for golf training, physical therapy, nutrition, and a wellness center for recovery.
Mike’s dream was to create a training facility that is welcoming to everyone from professional athletes to people who are just getting starting. Always committed to learning and sharing the most cutting-edge information in strength training, nutrition, and recovery, he is intensely dedicated to the development of athletes while simultaneously passionate about helping new clients from all walks of life achieve their fitness goals
Over the past 23 years, Mike Bystol has trained over 75 professional athletes and has helped more then 50 young athletes receive athletic scholarships. Whether training professional athletes, triathletes, CEOs, or stay-at-home moms, his friendly, intelligent approach has helped hundreds of clients reach their goals.
John Eggan | Director of Operations
John Has spent the last 12 years honing his skills as a functional movement specialist. With a NSCA CPT certification as his base, he has gone on to receive multiple certifications surrounding human movement, stretching, and pain management.
Over the last couple of years at Bystol Performance Center, John has combined his functional movement expertise with golf. John recently received his Functional Golf Specialist certification through the Gary Gray Institute.
“Through proper human movement, the human body can achieve a lot. The unfortunate thing is that Proper movement is not being taught unanimously.”
John also serves as the facilities Director of Operations and oversees not only operation but the training that Is conducted within the facility.
Mitchell Brohn | Strength Coach
Zack Vaughan | Youth Sports Specialist
Zack Vaughan is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with a bachelor of science in Kinesiology from the University of Arkansas. Zack specializes with those looking to translate work in the gym to improved performance on the field, court, and overall movement throughout life. Whether you’re looking to get faster, stronger, or simply like the way you look in the mirror, Zack will make it happen through a data-driven, person-specific approach to training.
Tommy Green | Strength Coach
Tommy Green is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with a Bachelors degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Carthage College. He has spent most of his career in strength training and coaching for Hockey and high school athletes. Whether the goal is to improve speed and strength for sports, move better in daily life, or just to feel better generally, Tommy can get you there with a positive mindset and a strong work ethic.
